07.00 Our jetleg wakes us up around seven. Today’s the day! After five years of work our film will premiere!
07.15 Calling with Ella. She’s doing well with her grandparents. We miss her.
07.45 Meeting in hotellobby with our publicists Dave and Eseel.
08.15 Arrival at KVUE Studio’s. Still waking up.
08.45 Live interview during Breakfast News. Classic American news setting. It goes well. Though real early, it was quite an experience! CHECK
09.30 Breakfast at the famous Magnolia’s: fresh orange juice, pancakes, omelettes, cripsy bacon, eggs benedicte, toast, yoghurt, fruits and more!
11.00 At the Filmmaker’s Lounge in ACC: preparing the rest of day, emailing, still putting posters on walls, making special invites for our afterparty. Getting a bit nervous...
12.00 Kodak Sunday Brunch: not much happening there, so we go to a vivid panel discussion about ‘branding: how to connect brands with film(makers)’ with Jess Search.
13.00 We meet Winston, one of our publicists, and go to a local radio show called Hip Hop Hooray! In a complete different part of town, on the other side of the highway, feels quite segregated...
13.45 Interview with Miss Manners. Cool interview with quite some time to tell our story. And great music! Miss Manners made free publicity for us all afternoon!
15.00 Back in the hotel. Getting seriously nervous now. Taking a rest and a bath. Dressing up!
17.00 Head back to the festival!
18.30 Late tech check. Everything goes well. The sound is great and right in your face. The film looks beautiful. And the screen is so huge! Slowly first visitors are showing up and standing in line.
19.15 World Premiere Say My Name! The venue is packed with people. This is it!
20.45 End of our first screening of Say My Name. Sheering, applause, whistling! Q&A goes well, the questions are challenging and we get a chance to tell our story.
21.30 Afterparty in Red Fez, during the only hip hop party in town! Got drunk!!!
